Leap Motion Release Date Pushed Back to July

It appears that motion based control of Macs and PCs would have to wait a little longer as the Leap Motion Inc. announced yesterday that shipments of its Leap Motion controller will be pushed back to July 22, 2013.

The company started taking pre-orders earlier this year and promised that the first batch of controllers will be made available by May 13. However, the company’s CEO Michael Buckwald, the Leap Motion controller still needs some time to beta test its software before it can be launched to the public.

The company has stressed that the beta testing has nothing to do with the device’s hardware and has more to do with its software. Moreover, Leap motion assures that the delay will be the first and only delay and that it won’t affect the company’s current contracts with Asus and HP.

The Leap Motion controller can still be pre-ordered from the company’s website for $79.99. A number of software will be available once the product launches including Autodesk’s 3D design software, Corel’s painter apps and an optimized version of the game Cut the Rope.
