Mobile World Congress (MWC 2014) kicks off in less than 10
days, so we’re seeing a higher than usual influx of information about the new
devices and technology that various device manufacturers will be announcing
during the event.
A few days ago, we got a few juicy tidbits about Samsung’s
next-generation smartphone – the Galaxy S5. Today, we got wind of additional information
about the S5.

According to a report by the Korean Herald, the new flagship
phone will have a bezel-free design (which reportedly has been in development
since 2012). The report also mentions a fingerprint scanner that will be
embedded in the display or will be installed at the bottom right or left sides
of the panel.
The new smartphone should also be thinner than its
predecessor thanks to a new display technology that will replace the current
four-layer setup with indium tin oxide.
There was also a leaked image of what supposedly is the
Galaxy S5’s retail box, which shows the display and resolution at 5.25 inches and
QHD resolution respectively, as well as the inclusion of support for
fitness-related features.
In other news from Korea, LG has recently posted a teaser
image on its Facebook page which gives clues of the Korean company’s miniature
flagship phone. The teaser image shows a snicker, a starfish, a cupcake and what
seems to look like the LG G2, but in a smaller package. Pink is also prominent on the image so maybe a pink color option?
LG has maintained a tight grip on the lid with this one as
it was able to prevent any information leaks with this smartphone, so we might
have to wait until the device gets announced, possibly on February 24 in Mobile
World Congress.
