Huawei is the latest company to update its flagship device.
Replacing the outgoing Ascend
P6 is of course the Huawei Ascend P7.
The handset is built around a 5-inch 1080p display that is
sandwiched between two layers of Gorilla Glass 3 panels. The back of the device
(just underneath the secondary Gorilla Glass 3) features a textured panel with
a micro pattern, which reportedly was achieved through a seven-stage surface
treatment.
Huawei has utilized its own chip-making capabilities with
the Ascend P7 as the device comes packed with the company’s HiSilicon Krin 910T
chip with a 1.8GHz quad-core Cortex A9-CPU, a Mali 450 GPU, 2GB of RAM and 16GB
of expandable internal memory.
The phone is equipped with powerful optics with an 8MP BSI
sensor at the front and a 13MP Sony BSI sensor at the back. The front-facing
camera comes with a 5-piece lens assembly complemented by an IMAGESmart 2.0
software that offers 10-level auto-facial enhancement and wide-angle photo
function.
On the other hand, the back camera comes with an f/2.0
aperture with an LED flash. The rear camera is also capable of recording 1080p
videos and can be operated using voice commands.
In terms of connectivity, the Ascend P7 offers LTE, Bluetooth
4.0, Wi-Fi, microSUB 2.0 and NFC.
The software on the device is based on Android 4.4 KitKat
with the company’s Emotion 2.3 UI on top. The Android overlay offers some
cosmetic and functional updates including a new permission manager, a new Do Not Disturb mode as well as a new Power-Saving mode.
The Huawei Ascend P7 will be available in three colour
options – black, white and pink. It will be available starting May to more than
20 countries including the UK, China, Saudi Arabia, UAE and different parts of
Europe and South East Asia for around $625.
