Nokia’s dominance over the Windows Phone market cannot be
understated especially now that it’s a fully owned company of Microsoft. And
although other manufacturers like Samsung and HTC have built Windows
Phone-powered phones in the past, the market remains a club reserve for a
chosen few.
Fortunately, it appears the barriers are now being lowered
as evidenced by the entry (actually one is a re-entry) of two new brands in the
scene.
On one end, we have returning hardware partner LG with a
rumoured Windows Phone 8.1 device called the Uni8. According to a leaked image
of the phone by @evleaks, the Uni8 may sport a phablet-sized display with 1080p
resolution and a Snapdragon 800 chipset.
There’s no word on when LG plans to announce the Uni8 but we’ll
keep our eyes open for any announcements either from LG or Microsoft.
But if you’re looking for a handset that’s close to being
available, Prestigio has just announced a new Windows Phone handset – the Multiphone
PAP5507.
Although the handset has already been announced, details of
its specifications remain in murky waters. What we know so far is that it will
have a 1.2GHz Snapdragon processor, an 8MP camera and a display resolution of
1280x768 pixels.
