The Black Eyed Peas’ Will.i.am just unveiled his own
Wearable today at the Dreamforce conference in San Francisco. Called the Puls,
the wearable is designed like a cuff and offers more than just delivering
notifications to a user in contrast to other products in the market.
The watch comes with its own SIM card slot allowing users to
connect to the internet via 3G and can even send texts, emails and make phone
calls on its own. The device sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip, 1GB of RAM,
16GB of built-in storage, GPS, an accelerometer, a pedometer and will run on a modified version of Android Wear.
The watch comes with its own music streaming service, a
voice assistant that provides notifications for calls, events and tasks. There
is also a fitness app that monitors a user’s activities.
Will.i.am and his team have also created special accessories
for the watch including a jacket that comes with its own batteries that help
recharge the Puls whenever the watch touches the sleeves of the jacket. There’s
also a backpack with speakers that acts as a pedometer to track a user’s steps
and monitors the wearer’s weight.
There’s no word yet on how much the Puls will sell, but
Will.i.am shares that the watch will be available before the end of the year in
select AT&T stores.
