LG seems to be playing catchup in the phablet game with its
newly announced V10 premium smartphone. The Korean tech giant’s new big phone
enters the direct firing line of the Samsung Note5, the iPhone 6S Plus and the
recently unveiled Nexus 6P which are designed for consumers who want big
screens partnered with top-notch performance.
The phone is built around a 5.7-inch QHD panel that features
an extra 2.1-inch display strip on top that provides access to apps as well as
provide information to the users much like the Samsung’s Galaxy S6 Edge’s
secondary app launcher.
LG has also decided to put two 5MP camera at the front that
make use of two different type of lens in order to take better selfies. The
first camera uses a standard angle lens while the second camera utilizes a
wide-angle lens that allows users to fit more people into their selfies (or
wefies).
Looking inside the phone, there’s a Snapdragon 808 chip with
4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable phone storage. There’s also an embedded
fingerprint reader in the power button, a 3000mAh battery and the usual
plethora of connectivity features.
At the back there’s a 16MP camera with an f/1.8 lens and
laser autofocus system that are found in the LG G4. There are also software
improvements in the camera department. For instance, users will now be able to
manually configure the cameras settings, more specifically when taking videos.
The LG V10 will be offered initially in its home turf in
South Korea this month in several color options including space black, luxe
white, modern beige, ocean blue and opal blue. There’s no word yet on pricing
and international availability though.
